Once she has reached the Equator, she will head southeast towards the South American west coast. But first, she has to cross the Equator and her team predicts that it will be on, or about, the 18th of November 2009.
As with any vessel dependent on the wind, she has had some great days with speeds reaching 10-12 knors, and bad days, where she was stuck at only 1 or 2 knots. But, according to her blog and her family, she is holding strong, and loving every moment of her adventure.
She still keeps in contact with her family and friends daily via radio and internet, so that is undoubtedly helping to keep her on an even keel. But still, being so far from home with only a radio and a computer to talk to people must be a bit tough on her.
Or, maybe not. Most teenagers her age(16) mainly use cellphones and computers to chat with friends and family anyway. So she's probably feeling right at home.
All joking aside, this young woman will go far, I believe. Already circling the globe in a sailing yacht? If she's able to pull this off, she may be in for great things. She will have already proven herself to her family, friends, country, and to the world as a whole. After this, everything will be open to her. She will only have to apply herself as she is doing now, and she will do great things.
Until next time...

A Pilgrimage to the Altar of Saint Helga
(for Andrew Wyeth)
But First Lunch
This room is a valley of flickering
firefly tumbleweed lights
between tall buildings
Lusty Lady – All Clothing 100% Off
winks the sign across the street
My son has found
a numerical pattern in the blinks
We are here to see Wyeth's Lady
clothed and unclothed
Helga in her incarnations
but first lunch
The waiter looks like Groucho Marx
Hear the sound of over fifty spoons and forks
the chatter of the crowd
my children's voices
Seeing Helga
We see Helga floating on velvet crush
her nighttime lake
Little trout of light swim
her body tide-pools
We see her in her Austrian coat
standing
for hours in the snow
with great discipline
We see her with her braids
the nape of her neck naked
where spine joins brain
a white triangle exposed
holy peephole
We see her smile creases
her blue eyes
slips of horizon over wild grass
and her hair
you can feel it
the soft order in those braids
We go home in dark and rain
the autumn trees light our path
every leaf
a flame
in a lantern

Rhode Island legislators learned yesterday that Gov. Carcieri vetoed the gay funeral rights bill that passed in October.
The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Rhoda Perry and state Rep. David Segal, would have added “domestic partners” to the list of people legally authorized to make funeral, cremation or burial arrangements for their deceased partners. Heterosexual married couples already have these rights.
The Providence Journal reported that the bill was proposed after one man was unable to retrieve the body of his late partner from the state medical examiner for weeks because they weren’t married or next-of-kin.
Gov Carcieri’s veto message, said:
“This bill represents a disturbing trend over the past few years of the incremental erosion of the principles surrounding traditional marriage, which is not the preferred way to approach this issue.
“If the General Assembly believes it would like to address the issue of domestic partnerships, it should place the issue on the ballot and let the people of the state of Rhode Island decide.”
The bill defined a domestic partner as someone who was in an “exclusive, intimate and committed relationship” with the deceased person and had lived with them for at least a year. The bill also said the couple had to be financially “interdependent” by joint mortgage, shared credit card or domestic partnership contract.
Gov. Carcieri said the bill would allow the decisions of a “partner” of a year to take precedence over “traditional family members.” He said a “one year time period is not a sufficient duration to establish a serious bond between two individuals.”
Rep. Segal said Carcieri took his opposition to same-sex marriage too far. He and Sen. Perry plan to override the veto.
Segal also said, “‘I think the man is heartless and this has become a bad joke that has carried on for far too long.”
Even in death we get NOTHING!
I think that gay people should leave their spouses in the morgue and let the state pay for the burials until it is Bankrupt.
The other night at my independent film theatre I saw the movie 'Seraphina'. It really was wonderful. This actress was amazing and the story was amazing, as well.
I'm spending the rest of the day in my pajamas, don't tell anyone I'm home! We overdid it yesterday, painting the house and raking leaves. 20 bags worth from our meager acreage.
Then I jogged at the Lake this morning. Cold but lovely anyway. I ran into 7 teenagers trying to harass an animal and I had to talk with them. I'll elaborate tomorrow. Sigh.
People never guess that I'm a huge supporter of free will. Wiccans say do whatever you like, as long as it causes no harm. Yet animals are so often used as entertainment for bored children I guess tormenting them is now seen as perfectly acceptable.
Oh well, have some snacks! (Not sure what that is in the picture but it looks yummy).

The wait is over! Bethany and Rufus Roots Quartet's new CD "Live A Fip" - released in Europe - is a master collaboration between the group Bethany and Rufus (Bethany Yarrow and Rufus Cappadocia), Haitian Percussionist 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste, and singer/flautist Yacouba Moumouni. The CD gets its name from the "Live A Fip" radio series, where they were invited to perform while doing a promotional spot for Radio France. The song "Iraq" is one that will touch your emotions, arouse your senses, and open your heart and mind to an experience beyond measure. Cappadocia's cello sings out, cries out, imploring you to listen. It is a very powerful track indeed, conveying the sorrow and plight of an impoverished, enraged land. The erratic, aggressive cello playing over soft acoustic guitar, gets the song's point across without uttering a single word.
"The level of musical brilliance reached by Rufus Cappadocia in "Iraq" left me speechless. His cello becomes reminiscent of mournful sorrow and wailing cry that extracts emotion like nothing else. This instrumental piece highlights both music and musician at their best..." Review by Jessica Wilson, MusicDish

Marc Mutty - the picture to the left - reported to the Police Department in Yarmouth that his campaign headquarters recieved a threat via phone message Monday morning. One woman left a message: "You will be dead. Maybe not today, not tomorrow. But soon you'll be dead." And that was just one such call.
Another in Augusta - Maine's capitol city - was left with Michael Heath, former leader of the Christian Civic League of Maine and its successor the Maine Family Policy Council. Someone who wasn't even in the campaign against Gay Marriage here in Maine. It was targeted simply for the organizations he once lead, the fact that he was a Christian, and was involved in three previous campaigns against Gay Marriage, and probably because of his religious convictions.
Marc Mutty said that they had received threats before, but not as direct as this one was.
It should be noted, however, that not all Gay Marriage supporters are like the examples above. In the article it says that there have were also civil, and peaceful, protests infront of the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Portland - who's bishop urged his church members to vote against Gay Marriage.
Too bad all protests couldn't have been like the one above. Calling and threatening someone based on their opposition/support of a particular referendum just isn't right. There is no justification to threatening to kill someone because their religious convictions are different.
The idea that someone would do this is disturbing. I'm no Christian, not by a long shot. Honestly, I think it's done more harm that good throughout human history, but everyone has the right to believe as they wish here. To pray to whichever God or Goddess they wish. Or, as in my case, not to pray to a God or Goddess.
To threaten someone just because your side didn't win this time around doesn't help your cause any, it just helps the otherside who can just point to your dumbass phone-call/threat as an example of why not to allow equal under Maine's Marriage Laws. Not to forget that threatening an opponent of a referendum you support/oppose is just assinine.
Grow to hell up people. Gay Marriage Supporters lost this time. Get over it already and lets work towards passage next time. These antics just hurt the Cause.
Until next time...

Tycoon Dynasty Entertainment announced the release of "So Faded," the debut single from rapper Face Black Rose. "So Faded" is the first track to be released from his upcoming EP "The Year Of The Rose".
A native New Yorker, Face Black Rose has an opinion about his music as well, "When my mother died, I had a lot of anger in me, and it scared me to a point where I knew I had to channel it in some way. Music helped me do that. That's why I feel people can relate to me – because just like all the greats – Sam Cook, Matilda Jackson, Biggie, 2Pac, Jay Z, and 50 cents – I put my heart on the line with my music. There is passion in every note I sing and every verse I rap."
Although his debut single is just being released, Face Black Rose is not new to the music scene. Performing for the last two years, he has worked with music industry veterans Ja Rule, News, Producer Boodah Monk, and Havoc from the Infamous Mobb Deep.
"So Faded" is now available for purchase. The 10 track EP, "The Year of the Rose" is expected to debut around Spring of 2010 on the independent label Tycoon Dynasty Records.
